AI adoption in events leaps 60% – survey
AI adoption among organizers has jumped 60% in less than a year, according to a new study.
The report by Global DMC Partners’ Q3 2024 Meetings & Events Pulse Survey shows 46% of the respondents now use tools like ChatGPT, CoPilot, Gemini and more – compared to 30% at the end of 2023.
This 60% increase can be seen mainly in content improvement, venue selection and marketing support.
Top tools include chatbots, grammar and rewording tools, content creation tools, image generation tools and note-takers.

Other highlights of the report included:
- Budget trends:
- 44% of US/Canadian planners reported budget increases
- Only 27% of international planners saw increases
- Top cost challenges:
- Rising hotel rates (affecting ~80% of planners)
- Increased food & beverage costs
- Higher audiovisual service prices (impacting >70% of planners)
- Budget increases often insufficient:
- 57% of those with increased budgets saw only 10-20% growth
- This often fails to cover inflation
- Limits ability to add creative or experiential elements to events
- Venue-related issues:
- Higher accommodation, F&B and A/V costs are the main challenges when working with hotels and venues

Tributes paid after sudden death of a Hyve leader
Tributes have been paid after the sudden death of a “passionate” and “friendly” leader in the Hyve Group.
The organizer issued a statement to mark the sad passing of 31-year-old Max Oliver, having suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this month.
“He was ambitious, passionate about doing great work, intelligent, friendly, a team player and an all-round positive energy.
“I – along with the rest of the Hyve team – have been devastated by the news, however he leaves an enormous legacy here and we feel lucky to have shared some memorable moments with him.
“My deepest condolences go out to Max’s fiancée, family, friends, and all who knew him.”
New RX UK appointment to drive event engagement
RX UK has created the new role of head of visitor strategy in a bid to drive engagement.
The organizer has appointed Rosi Viljoen to the position to oversee development of strategies as part of efforts attract high-value visitors across its events.
She will initially focus on RX’s hosted buyer program before expanding her efforts to encompass all show portfolios.
Rosi said: “I am thrilled to join RX and to work collaboratively with such a talented team.
“My passion lies in creating exceptional visitor experiences, and I look forward to bringing innovative strategies to life that will not only attract high-value visitors but also elevate the overall RX event experience and build our customers’ businesses.”
