Emerald takes over Generis Group

Emerald has accelerated their growth with their newest acquisition to their executive-level summit portfolio.

The event organizer announced it has acquired 100% equity interest in the Toronto-based Generis Group.

Generis is the leader of executive-level summits in Canada and has made significant business impacts in key growth markets.

Francesco Scalzo, CEO of Generis, said: “We believe Emerald’s expertise will empower Generis to scale our impact even more rapidly and reach new heights, while staying true to what has made our events valuable to senior executives.”

This acquisition is a key strategic step in expanding Emerald’s executive-level summit portfolio.

The event organizer is keen to strengthen it’s presence in this market – particularly in the US and Europe.

Emerald is significantly closer to achieving that goal with this latest takeover.

Hervé Sedky, CEO of Emerald, added: “With the addition of Generis, Emerald will now host more than 50 executive summits annually – underscoring the strength, scale and value of our offering.”

Informa continues growth momentum in Q2 report

Informa has announced more than 15% quarter-over-quarter sequential revenue growth in its Q2 financial report.

This is accelerated growth compared with the results from the first quarter.

Informa has reaffirmed its 2025 full-year guidance due to this improved momentum.

WTM Africa advances women in the travel sector with strategic partnerships

World Tourism Market Africa has formed a strategic alliance with two women-focused associations.

The RX-owned exhibition aims to challenge the male-dominated African tourism industry by advancing women in this sector.

Women in MICE and Women in Tourism are influential networks that WTM Africa seeks to utilize to achieve this.

Antois Leigh Nepgen, owner of Women in MICE, said: “By joining forces with WTM Africa and Women in Tourism, we’re creating a high-impact platform that celebrates excellence, fosters leadership, and breaks down the barriers that still exist in our industry.”

Women in MICE will unveil their awards categories at WTM Africa’s breakfast event on 15 April 2026.

The event will host around 80 women in leadership roles within the tourism industry.

IMEX America shares practical sustainability insights

IMEX has shared its 2024 sustainability report with the sustainable event management agency MeanGreen, which is acting as a consultant.

The organizer’s sustainable initiatives were implemented in 2024resulting in a 39% reduction carbon emissions compared with 2023.

IMEX has highlighted the initiatives it has taken that have made it a zero-waste event for the sixth time in a row.

Carina Bauer, CEO of IMEX, said: “Having the right knowledge to hand is key to making meaningful progress and this report details the practical information planners can use to make changes to their own events and enhance conversations with colleagues and clients.”
