UFI launches mission to connect international stakeholders with LatAm’s growing events industry
UFI is heading to Bogota on an industry scouting mission as part of plans to boost its presence in Latin America.
The Colombian capital is emerging as a strategic exhibition hub in LatAm and is primed for new and diverse opportunities for the events community.
UFI has opened registration to all members and non-members to join the mission in order to connect global organizers, suppliers and venues to the fast-growing LatAm exhibition market.
Ana Maria Arango, regional director for Central and South America at UFI, said: “I am convinced about the huge potential of the exhibition industry in Latin America.
“The global community just needs to discover our market. We have plenty of trusted partners in the region and Corferias has proven this role through the different international partnerships established in the last two decades.”
UFI’s program will last two days between October 14 and 15 and will be hosted at the Corferias Convention Center.
Stakeholders will given insights into why the region’s exhibition sector is beginning to boom.
It aims to lead to new opportunities for international stakeholders and continued regional growth in the industry.
Andres Lopez-Valderrama, executive president of Corferias, added: “This event represents a unique opportunity to strengthen regional collaboration across Latin America, highlight Bogotá and the region’s potential as a hub for international exhibitions.”
Hyve continues to expand its portfolio with EdTech acquisition
Hyve has made another acquisition as part of efforts to improve its position in education tech.
The GSV Summit is a leading annual event for C-suite leaders of the market.
This is the fifth addition Hyve has made to its portfolio in 12 months.
Mark Shashoua, CEO of Hyve, said: “Together, GSV Summit and Bett form a powerful new alliance across the global learning landscape.”
Bett has been the leading EdTech summit for the UK, Brazil and Asia for more than 40 years.
Hyve has further strengthened its global education presence by having both platforms under its umbrella.
Both events will continue to operate distinct from one another but will now have the opportunity to collaborate and share industry insights.
Ducan Verry, portfolio director for Hyve’s global edtech events, added: “Our Bett customers have told us time and again they want more access and insight into the U.S. and now we can deliver that.
“With the GSV Summit joining forces with Bett, we’re building bridges between two complementary communities.”
Kuala Lumpur secures six conferences
The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre has secured six major international conferences over two years.
These events will generate an estimated RM77.5million (USD18.2million) for Malaysia’s economy.
The conferences will cover several sectors including clean-energy tech, aviation, global health security, women’s health and evidence-based guidelines.
John Burke, general manager of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, said: “Beyond the RM77 million in direct economic contribution, these events will spark new partnerships, accelerate talent development and showcase our nation’s commitment to driving solutions for aviation safety, global health security, net-zero technology and women’s health.”
The center has an ongoing commitment to deliver economic value to the country.
Securing these conferences is also significant in furthering Malaysia’s goal of positioning itself as a strategic hub for business events in the Asia Pacific region.
Kuala Lumpur has become a key strategic partner in achieving this goal – playing a vital role in improving Malaysia’s visibility in the global business events industry.
